Non-rusting Metallic Dry Shake Hardener for Concrete Floors

CHEM-PLATE CCC960 is a factory-prepared ready-mixed, pure, non-rusting metal aggregate, shake-on, floor hardener. CHEM-PLATE CCC960 is composed of flat angular iron aggregate, cubical in dimension, designed to produce a thick armored floor where greater impact and abrasion resistance are required. CHEM-PLATE CCC960 formula with its engi­neered proprietary additives, allows complete dispersion and placement capabilities of higher application rates to achieve greater iron floor thickness for increased wear areas. CHEM-PLATE CCC960 aggregates are non-rusting and carefully selected from ground. The aggregates are kiln fired to com­pletely de-rust and remove all oil, grease, soluble alkaline com­pounds or other foreign materials. The 100% ferrous aggregates are carefully sized to assure ease of placement with resulting ductility and quality for maximum product performance. CHEM-TOP 960 aggregate gives the concrete it’s wearing capacity and abrasion resistance. With CHEM-PLATE CCC960, the top 1/8″ (3 mm) thickness of treated concrete floor is reinforced with one of the hardest and most durable metallic aggregates resulting in floor which will last up to 9 times longer than non-treated floor under the most severe wear conditions.

CHEM-PLATE CCC960 is used for extra heavy duty industrial floors which are subjected to sever traffic, high impact load, high wear and abrasion. CHEM-PLATE CCC960 produces maximum iron reinforcing thickness where severe wear floors are essential. It is used for low maintenance floors in heavy industries plants, heavy equipment plants, truck, tractor and automotive plants and foundries in areas where steel wheeled carts are used and on heavy traffic loading ramps.

CHEM-PLATE CCC960 contains pure, carefully graded iron aggregates for durable, dust free attractively colored floors designed for medium to heavy duty service that offers the owner four times the dust proof protection of quality concrete.

All ACI guidelines for construction of heavy-duty, single slab and two course floors are to be followed prior to the application of CHEM-PLATE CCC960.


Surface Preparation: to give the finisher a gauge for applying the right amount of material, measure square footage to be poured and space bags of CHEM-PLATE CCC960 according to amount of shake specified. (Base slab shall have 3% air entrainment added to minimize excess bleed water migration). Strike off concrete with vibrating screed to level off finished floor.     Use wood float to level surface and fill in voids. Allow bleed water to come up. Drag surface with a squeegee or a rubber hose to remove excess bleed water as needed. When slab will carry a finisher’s weight with little surface indentation (1/4th inch (66 mm)) depth, begin floating operation to keep surfaces open by hand floating or power floating. Float in direction of screeding operation. Do not use combination blades.


Application: immediately after the surface has been opened by floating, broadcast 2/3 of the required CHEM-PLATE CCC960 in a uniform manner. A mechanical spreader offers the most uniform coverage. Allow shake to absorb bleed water as indicated by a uniform, darkened color. Float in shake, proceeding in a perpendicu­lar direction to the initial floating operation. Avoid using a steel trowel or combination blades. Apply evenly the remainder of CHEM-PLATE CCC960 at right angles. Allow shade to absorb water and cross float as in first application. Work edges first by hand as they will dry first.


Troweling: when surfaces stiffen, begin troweling with the trowel blades flat to avoid penetra­tion. When the surface has set sufficiently so that no additional water or fines are brought to the surface, a second and final troweling shall be given to the floor. During this operation, the trowel should be raised to give a hard and smooth finish. Continue troweling process until the desired surface finish is achieved. DO NOT OVERWORK. Apply CHEM-SEAL 30 after final troweling and surface water glaze has disappeared, apply CHEM-SEAL 30 at 300 ft2 per gallon (7.5 m2/L).


Limitations: Do not add cement, plasticizer, or accelerator to CHEM-PLATE CCC960.


CHEM-PLATE CCC960 is to be carefully and evenly placed after the surface is set sufficiently to carry an applicators weight and surface water glaze is gone.


For trouble free applications, ACI recommendations for concrete practices should be followed:


  • ACI 304 for measuring mixing, transporting, and placing concrete
  • ACI 305 for hot weather concreting
  • ACI 306 for cold weather concreting
  • ACI 308 curing concrete

Cleaning: tools, equipment, etc. can be cleaned immediately using clean water.


Store CHEM-PLATE CCC960 in   cool   dry   storage facilities. Do not expose to direct sunlight. The shelf life of CEM150 is minimum 1 year if stored in a cool dry place in its original unopened container.


CHEM-PLATE CCC960 is a non-flammable and non-toxic in nature. Avoid contact with eyes and skin as it may cause irritation due to its alkaline nature. Splashes of CEM150 should be washed off immediately with clean water. Wear necessary gloves and dust mask.
