APPLICATION
Methods of Application: by spraying, rolling or brushing.
Tools Needed: CHEM-CRETE VENETIAN STAIN can be applied using one or more of the following:
- Low pressure or airless sprayer
- Good quality paint roller
- Good quality paint brush
Surface Preparation: The substrate must be sound, dry, clean and free from any contaminant like dust, dirt, mildew, algae, curing compounds, form release, sealers, oils, grease, etc.
Dirt and dust can be removed by sweeping and low-pressure washer. Areas contaminated with mildew, algae, oils and grease can be cleaned using a high-pressure washer and a biodegradable concrete cleaner like CHEM-CRETE CONCLEAN CCC060.
Cleaning of substrates treated with curing compounds, form release and sealers might be achieved by means of mechanical methods, such as shot blasting, grinding, wire brushing, and high-pressure washer.
Do not use acid etching, solvents or adhesive removers to clean substrates prior to application of CHEM-CRETE VENETIAN STAIN.
Mixing: Thorough mixing is required before and during application of this product. Some separation may occur if product is left to stand before use. It is important all solids are mixed before applying CHEM-CRETE VENETIAN STAIN to guarantee color uniformity throughout entire application process. It is recommended to mix using a low speed (paint like) drill mixer.
Coverage: coverage varies depending on color selected, surface texture, porosity, method of application, and desired results. Coverage ranges between 150 – to 300 ft2 per gallon (3.67 m2 to 7.34 m2 per liter). Coverage also depends on the porosity of the substrate, in some cased a second coat might be necessary.
Limitations:
- Minimum substrate temperature: 40°F (4.4°C).
- Application on wet or water-logged substrates is not recommended.
- Differences in concrete substrates, surface permeability, concrete design mix, finishing techniques, and age and condition of concrete in new and existing concrete substrates can produce variations in the color of the finished product.
- To test the surface (to be stained), mist the surface with clean water. Potential problem areas will bead water on surface and not absorb into substrate to receive CHEM-CRETE VENETIAN STAIN.
Cautions:
- Protect any adjoining areas (windows, doors, and fixtures, etc.) from overspray.
- Different colors and shades will vary depending on the number of coats applied, surface texture, porosity and method of application.
- Before applying CHEM-CRETE VENETIAN STAIN to new or old concrete and masonry substrates, test CHEM-CRETE VENETIAN STAIN in an inconspicuous area on the actual surface for desired results. It is always recommended to do a test area before commencing a full scale application.
- Dense or burnished concrete substrates surfaces must be opened properly to absorb CHEM-CRETE VENETIAN STAIN by mechanical, chemical or water blasting techniques.
Cleaning: clean all equipment, tools with fresh clean water immediately after use.
STORAGE
Store the product in cool dry area. Recommended storage temperature is from 40°F to 95°F (+4.4°C to +35°C). Don’t expose container to direct sunlight. PROTECT FROM FREEZING. Keep container closed when not in use. Shelf life is minimum 1 year in its original unopened container.
SAFETY
As all chemical products, adequate care must be taken. Avoid direct contact with food, eyes, skin, and mouth. KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN AND ANIMALS.
Breathing mask, goggles, and gloves should be worn during the application of CHEM-SEAL 30-WB. Skin contamination should be cleaned with plenty of water. If splashed into the eyes, it should be washed with a plenty of water using an eye-cup Optrex or Isogutt solution, then consult your doctor.
