CHEM-JOINT PRIMER

Two-Component Epoxy Primer for Chem-joint Mortar Applications

CHEM-JOINT PRIMER is a synthetic epoxy based, two-part cross-linking product at ambient temperature, free of solvents, plasticizers and inert loading. After complete curing, the product shows high mechanical strength, optimal adhesive power, and resistance to water, saline solutions, mineral oils and gasoline.

APPLICATION

Surface Preparation: in order to ensure optimal adhesion to substrates and perfect function of the synthetic joint it is fundamental to properly prepare the surfaces to be connected. In particular, concrete surfaces must be free of any un-sticking elements such as surfacing agents, cement efflorescence, grease, etc.

Mixing and application: in order to obtain ideal results, it is extremely important to use the components according to exact mixing ratios, and these are:

An entire can of Part A to an entire can of Part B or by volume A: B = 4: 3.

Mix the parts separately before use. Add part B component ‘Hardener’ to part A ‘Resin’ and mix slowly until complete homogenization.

When used as an adhesion promoter, CHEM-JOINT PRIMER is applied by brush in a single coat 150-200 microns thick, this is equivalent to 0.15 liters/m2 (0.156 kg/m2) to 0.20 liters/m2 (0.208 kg/m2). Subsequent spreading out of Chem-Joint Mortar must be performed with the primer still wet.

Cleaning: Xylene can be used to clean Chem-Joint Mortars from tools and equipment.

STORAGE

Store CHEM-JOINT PRIMER under cover out of direct sun light at a temperature between 50°F (10°C) and 77F (25°C). Store correctly in un-opened container. Shelf Life: Product can be stored in dry cool conditions for 12 months period.

SAFETY

KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN. FOR INDUSTRIAL USE ONLY.

The components of this sealant are combustible. Component 2 contains a toxic ingredient, which is sufficiently diluted after mixing with component 1 to permit use of the final mixture with reasonable precautions. During application, it should be used with adequate ventilation. Avoid prolonged contact to skin. The components and mixture are harmful or fatal if swallowed. In that event do NOT induce vomiting – call a physician immediately.

While handling component 2 during mixing the following is recommended: Organic vapor cartridge, respirator, protective goggles, rubber apron and gloves. The vapor should not be inhaled. It may cause allergic respiratory irritations and it may cause skin or eye irritation. If material is splashed on skin, wash with large quantities of soap and water. If splashes in eyes – flush with water for 15 minutes and call a physician.
